Field Trip to the Fire Station

November 11, 2014
Chloe's first field trip of the school year was to the Fire Station!

The Fire Station that we visited was only a few blocks away from the school, so Chloe and her classmates walked to the station with their teacher and some of the moms.

We were greeted by a firefighter who reviewed with the class what they had been learning about fire safety.

Afterwards, we toured the fire station.

The moms were impressed by the organization of the firefighters' lockers.

The kids were more impressed by the fold-down beds that can be seen in the background of the following picture;)

One of the firefighters dressed in full gear to demonstrate and explain the uses of their equipment.

Afterwards, the class got a chance to touch the gear. This picture reveals the excitement and amazement of the children.

Even more amazing than getting to touch the gear was watching the same firefighter climb the ladder.

Of course, we didn't forget to take a class picture with our new friends!

Firefighters from another station also visited Evan's school. Evan's teacher was sweet enough to text me a couple of pictures from their visit.

The littles enjoyed learning about fire safety and meeting real deal firefighters. It was so sweet of these men to commit time to putting smiles on little faces.

  1. Autumn just went for scouts to the fire house. It looks like they showed you a lot more on your field trip. Ohhh, I have such a fear of heights, there is no way I'd be able to climb that tall ladder!

    1. The firefighters joked about having one of the moms climb the ladder. My response was an emphatic "no"!
