A Trip to Legoland {Chloe's 9th Birthday}

Each year, we let the kids decide if they'd rather have a party or a trip (within reason) as their birthday present from Chris and me. This year, for the first time ever, Chloe chose the trip option! As the title of my blog post suggests, she decided on a trip to Legoland Florida!

After looking at vacation packages that included two Legoland resort accommodations, I decided on a package that included a hotel in Orlando. We woke up early to catch the shuttle that would take us to Legoland, which was a one hour drive from Orlando. It was extremely reasonable and the ride was pleasant.

She was one happy 9 year old!

We rode a few rides and spent a lot of time at the Imagination Zone that morning.

The kids made cars that raced and crashed.

The Lego Batman creations were awesome. You know, because "Everything is awesome!";) Oops, wrong movie.

And, of course we played in Lego pits.

We watched a water ski show, Battle for Brickbeard's Bounty, in Pirates' Cove.

We rode a more rides and explored more of the park.

I signed Evan up for a Lego Mindstorms robotics class that afternoon, while Chloe and Chris rode roller coasters. It was a little advanced for him, but it was a unique and fun experience.

In true Florida fashion, heavy rain came out of nowhere and we were drenched. The rain drove us into the shops. Luckily, we were set to leave on the shuttle within an hour, so we still had a full day. It also gave us a chance to make pressed pennies.

The next day, we planned drive back home straight from the park, so we had about half a day to spend at Legoland.

We picked out our Legoland souvenirs in the The Big Shop that morning and took a few pictures.

Chloe and Chris were determined to ride every roller coaster in the park. Evan, who is not a fan of roller coasters after our Six Flags visit a couple of summers ago, decided to stay with me and continue to window shop. We also walked through the themed areas that we had missed the day before.

Evan refused to spend any amount of time in the Duplo Valley area of the park, because "It was for babies!" However, I thought that the life-size farmhouse was the coolest ever!

We met back up with Chloe and Chris, and made our way out of the park.

I didn't have many expectations for this visit to Legoland, mostly because I didn't find much while doing online research. I read one helpful blog review that seemed to suggest it was mediocre. With that being said, it exceeded my expectations. It was the perfect weekend trip with kids. There was something that each kid enjoyed doing. Chloe enjoyed the rides; Evan enjoyed shopping and playing with Legos. We were able to explore and experience most of the park in the one and half days we were there. We could have spent another full day exploring everything that Legoland had to offer. The Cypress Gardens were closed and we were rained out while walking through Miniland. Who knows, maybe another trip is in our future.

Bye for now, Legoland.
