Camping at Monte Sano

This past weekend was our annual camping trip with the cousins. For this year's trip, we decided to camp at Monte Sano State Park near our cousins' hometown of Huntsville, Alabama.

When we arrived, the cousins had already set up camp and were waiting on us. The campground was in a great location, nestled on a mountaintop with breathtaking views of city. While Chris finished setting up our campsite, I took the opportunity to take some pictures of the kids.

They loved their hammocks!

We enjoyed our first night hanging around the campfire, grilling dinner, and watching some college football. Okay, so there may have been a little "glamping" involved, too. The dads did what they do best.

The next day, we hiked/got lost on trails.

It was nice to be out in nature while still having access to the city. We were able to shower at the cousins' house and we attended our first hockey game, Huntsville Havoc vs. Knoxville!

We returned to this view later that night.

The next morning, we made a campfire breakfast and tore down camp as we said our goodbyes.

We drove to the scenic overlook to take a final picture of the kids. And, we just happened to bump into some NASA scientists who had set up telescopes to view Mercury passing in front of the sun. Oh you know, just the norm.

We had a good a time, as always. We love being able to enjoy the great outdoors and catch up with the cousins.
