Fall Decorations

Chloe has been asking when we would be decorating our house for Halloween since last week's visit to Party City for a few birthday party supplies. Chris isn't crazy about Halloween decorations, but I have been thinking that some fall/Halloween decorations on our front porch would be cute.

Last year, I found the best deal ($5.99 each) on yellow mums at the Commissary. They were simple, but made the perfect fall "statement" on our front porch!

October 2011
When I saw that Michael's was having a Crazy Pumpkin Event in its weekly advertisement, I decided that this was the perfect opportunity for Chloe and I to do something crafty and to decorate for Halloween.

We started by purchasing a craft pumpkin for $6.

Then Chloe painted the pumpkin white.

We then cut out foam accents for the pumpkin.

I made stitch marks with a silver paint pen and Chloe added glow-in-the-dark paint to the foam accents.

Here was the final product.

Not too bad...and Chloe really enjoys these sorts of things. We're thinking about going back to Michael's for a few more of the events this month {here}.

Afterwards, we picked up some red-orange mums...but, not before stopping at Old Navy next door to Michael's. Chloe just loves the mannequins!

We have the start of a fall porch! Once it is a little more presentable, I will post a picture.

Greyson's 1st Birthday!!

The cutest little man I know celebrated his 1st birthday today!

Here is Greyson holding on to Granddad's leg. He is precious.

The Littles had a great time at the party. Chloe especially enjoyed pushing the little ones on the swing. When did she become so grown?!

I was even able to get a few shots of my sweet boy's smile.

Tenesha, Greyson's mom, is one of the most creative and craftiest people I know.

Check out this awesome party spread!

This picture really doesn't do the party decorations justice. Everything, trees and all, was decorated in the cutest modern woodland creatures theme!

Also, check out Greyson's tee, monogram on front, birthday age on back. Oh, I just loved the little details of this party.

Of course, my absolute favorite part of a first birthday party is the cake smash. It's always so cute to see baby's reaction to the cake.

Look at that face!

And here is a shot with Mom, Dad, and Greyson.

Thanks for sharing your special day with us, Greyson!

Excited About Fall

October 2, 2012 No comments
The kids have been begging to wear thier fall/winter PJs for weeks now! Well, tonight is was finally cool enough. Boy, were they excited?!

To be honest, this is the way that I feel on inside about the cooler weather! Fall truly is my favorite season.

Strawberry Baskets

During our down time this past weekend, Chloe and I worked on little projects for her birthday party in a couple of weeks.

One of these projects was decorating the strawberry baskets that will hold our party favors.

I found vintage quart-size strawberry baskets on ebay. I wanted to give them a personal touch, so Chloe and I went to work.

First, Chloe painted the outside of the baskets with a whitewash. The measurements weren't exact, but it was a half acrylic white paint and half water mixture. Of course, I would do a little touch up after Chloe would finish painting each basket.

I wasn't sure about this next step, but Chloe convinced me that it would look good, so I gave it a try.

I dabbed just a small amount of red and white paint on a dry brush. Then, I lightly brushed small streaks of the paint over the white-washed baskets.

I'm glad that Chloe convinced me to do this because I was pleased with the finished product.

We then added the personalized stickers that I ordered from etsy (can't find the link).

I can't wait to add tissue paper and the party favors to these "sweet" baskets!

Sophia's 5th Birthday!

October 1, 2012 No comments
The fam and I attended Sophia's 5th birthday party at Pump-It-Up this weekend!

With the music blaring and the kids bouncing off the walls (of the inflatables), I couldn't help but think that it reminded me of a club, a Kiddie Club! The kids were too busy running from inflatable to inflatable, so I was only able to get "action" shots here! No time to stop to pose for a picture when there was so much fun to be had!

Daddy had to show Evan the ropes, but it wasn't long before Evan got into the swing of things.

The Littles

My Big Kid:)

And, the Birthday Girl!!!

Chris decided to join Evan in the bouncy house and the kids wasted no time pelting him with balloons and  trying to tackle him. (Isn't this a scene from a movie! Ha!)

I was pleasantly surprised at how adventurous Evan was acting, very uncharacteristic of his cautious, and sometimes timid resistant, personality.

He even decided to go up the BIG slide all by himself.

He would slide down frontwards...

 ...and backwards!

(The kids and I FINALLY got our hair cut this weekend. Check out Little Man's cut!)

Chloe got in on the action too.

...and so did Daddy!

We took a group shot (sans Evan, he had reached his branching out limit) before heading into the party room.

And the birthday girl was caught stealing a kiss!

Then, it was time for cake in the party room!

Girls will be girls, just give one a hot pink cell phone!

After our day of partying, the kids and I were worn out. Thanks for the fun times and sharing your special day with us, Sophia!

Speaking of birthday parties and fun times, a certain special little lady will be celebrating her 4th birthday in less than two weeks. Here is a sneak peek of things to come.
