Evan's School Year Wrap-Up

May 28, 2016
It's the end of another school year for Evan. He just finished his last year at preschool and his first Kindergarten year...yes, there will be a second.

We started the month of May with great news! Evan has been accepted to the academic magnet elementary school that Chloe also attends. It was a huge relief and I couldn't be prouder. We're excited that several of Evan's school friends were accepted as well. I think it will make the transition from a nurturing environment to a stricter (but not too strict) academic environment easier.

Speaking of a nurturing environment...

At the last chapel of the school year, Evan's 6th birthday was recognized. He was allowed to go on stage. When asked by Mrs. G if he wanted to say anything to his Daddy or me, he said, " I love you." So very sweet.

He was also allowed to stay on stage and sing a song with the other birthday kids.

I was full of emotions as I watched the kids in their last chapel on the last day of school. It was the last chapel that Evan would enjoy with his friends. I even caught him getting emotional as the Kindergarteners sang "Our God is an Awesome God."

The following day was Evan's Kindergarten graduation. I revelled in this, especially since I knew that he wouldn't be having a Kindergarten graduation at his school next year.

The Kindergarteners put on a sweet performance with many of the songs that they sang during chapel, reciting scripture, and a bell choir.

Evan strutted on stage, one hand in his pocket, to receive his diploma.

Afterwards, we took some family pictures.

Evan will sure miss his bestie, Chloe, next year. He was always so excited to see her at school. Chloe played a big role in Evan overcoming his shyness and becoming more confident. It hurts my heart to see this friendship break up.

Evan's class had an end-of-the-year party at Rockin' Jump, the same place that Evan celebrated his 6th birthday a week later. I was able to get much better shots on this day.

What a difference a year makes! I have watched Evan blossom socially and academically in this past year thanks in large part to his sweet and exceptional teacher, Mrs. E. It's bittersweet to watch this chapter in our lives close. We will miss the staff and our friends at school dearly. Thank you to Nana, Granddaddy, Lola, Aunt Dana, and Uncle Tommy for celebrating this special occasion with Evan. We love y'all!

  1. Evan will do so great at his new school and how nice to have both kids at the same school, too! I always get choked up during the last chapel of the year (and the first one, too!). Thanks for finding my blog again, my reader gets messed up sometimes, too!
